Good morning, my stitching friends! And how are you doing in this very last week of October? Is everyone ready for Halloween? I so miss those days when my sons would fill the house with the excitement of creating their costumes (with just a bit of help from mom!), mapping out their trick-or-treat route, carving pumpkins, and at the very end of Halloween night, laying out their candy by type on the floor of our family room in a massive trade-fest (and generously giving all of their coconut candy bars like Mounds or Almond Joys to me because I'm the only one who likes coconut in the family!). What fun memories...
I want to thank all of you so much for those wonderful comments you left on my last post. I'm so touched that you liked the goodies I made for Lynn at Happiness is Cross Stitching and now that I've received her part of the exchange, I know you'll be absolutely blown away! Lynn started off making me the most beautiful fabric box in a pretty fall print of red and gold. On top of it she attached a stitched "C" monogram and added a touch of cording and a pretty crystal pin as the "opener." It is tiny--not quite 3" X 5"--just the way I like things! I really need to learn how to make these fabric boxes myself, and, luckily, Lynn has included detailed instructions in her tutorials blog. Thank you so much for taking the time to put together your helpful tutorials, Lynn!

Inside the box were two more beauties all done in the same shades of red and gold--a bottlecap pincushion and a needlebook with a pretty butterfly clasp...

Here is a close-up of Lynn's darling creations:
And to package them, she made me this cute bag:
Stitched pouch from Lynn B.
It was so nice getting to know you over the past year, Lynn. I loved your treats--everything was so perfectly stitched and assembled and I know I'll think of you whenever I admire them. Thank you again, my friend!
Exhange gifts from Lynn B. at Happiness is Cross Stitching
And look what arrived from down south! My North Carolina friend, Myra, surprised me with this adorable candy corn mug mat for my favorite "brew"--too cute! I love it, Myra--you really made me smile!!
Candy Corn Mug Mat from Miss Myra!
Do you remember this little Shepherd's Bush Thanksgiving design which I won from Tricia? Well, I stitched it not once, but twice--once "over one" on 28 ct. cashel linen and the second time over two using two strands of thread on 40 ct. linen.
"Give Thanks" by Shepherd's Bush--twice over!!
GIVEAWAY #1: Now the little chart is ready to move on to a new home. Who would like to stitch it next? If you want to stitch it up quickly (it only takes a few hours) and send it along to another stitcher, please let me know in your comments. This giveaway is for the followers of my blog and please be sure to leave your email if it is not included in your profile. Oh, and for fun, tell me the name of your favorite Halloween treat!
Giveaway #1 for the Shepherd's Bush "Give Thanks" chart
GIVEAWAY #2: But, wait--that's not all!! I decided to stitch one of my little pillows out of one of my finishes and offer it up as a giveaway, too... The same rules apply--this giveaway is for the followers of my blog and you must leave your email if it is not included in your profile. For fun, please share with me the name of your favorite Halloween treat, too. And for this giveaway, if you are a regular commenter (and you know who you are!) you will get an extra entry. This Thanksgiving pillow is stitched over one on 28 ct. cashel linen and includes a variety of autumn colored ric-rac, ribbon, fabrics and cording. It is backed in the same fabric shown on the left side. (The drawing is for the pillow only--the scissors are not included).
Giveaway #2: "Give Thanks" pillow
If you are interested in either giveaway, just let me know in your comments and I will draw two winners in November. I'll set the deadline for this drawing as November 10th. Good luck, everyone!
Well, I'm off tomorrow to my yearly stitching retreat at a bed & breakfast with four of my blogging buddies (yes, we all met online and have been meeting up like this for four years now!). After that I'll be driving directly to New York to visit my parents so I may be out of touch for a bit. I hope each of you has a delightful Halloween night--stay safe and be sure to eat some of your children's or grandchildren's chocolate for me!! Bye for now...
HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO ALL!

ReplyDeleteI was going to say I would pass on the pattern again, like I did on Tricia's blog, but. I will ask you to enter my name in #2 please. Looks great though! You are so sweet to have giveaways! I feel guilty whenever I win one, so I'll probably pass. But I love your finishing as always!

Hi Carol. I would love to be entered in giveaway 1. I don't have a personal blog, but I am a member of the Random Acts of Stitching Kindness blog group, and would be more than happy to pass it along there when done. Oh, and my favorite Halloween treats are Kit Kats.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your finishes as well as Lynn's. So talented! I'd love to be the proud owner of one of your finishes. However, if I won #1, could I contract you to finish it? As for favorite Halloween candy, Reese's peanut butter cups. I count it as a protein! Ha!

I forgot to tell you my favorite candy... would have to be snickers. However, a good homemade popcorn ball was also a treat on Halloween.
ReplyDeleteWow Carol, such wonderful gifts from Lynn!! and that adorable candy corn mat from Myra ~ how cute!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your darling pillow, so I will choose #2 and I do comment fairly often. :))
My fave candy right now is the miniature M & M's in the little plastic tubes.
Thanks for letting me join in!

Lynn's gift was beautiful as yours was for her, Carol.
ReplyDeleteI love how you finished "Give Thanks."
I will pass on your giveaway as you have been so generous to me.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend with your stitching buddies....so much fun to look forward to!
Oh wow!! I would love to enter your giveaway if I may. I always love looking at your finishes, I especially loved your bowl of smalls series last year, I ended up adding so many extra charts to my wish list as a result though!! My favourite Halloween treat is probably gummi bears eaten while watching some kids Halloween film or show like scooby doo :)

Hi Carol,
ReplyDeleteAs always I love your blog posts. I so wish we celebrated Halloween here in Australia but it's not highly done here. We normally do have a few groups of trick or treaters knocking on our front door every year, so I always have chocolate waiting in the cupboard. The way you celebrated with your sons made me smile, how lovely! I love coconut chocolate bars too.
I would love to be entered into giveaway number 2 please! What a gorgeous cushion. My favourite Halloween treat would be any chocolate bar. I am a chocoholic!!
Your stitching retreat sounds like so much fun!! Have a lovely time away, look forward to hearing about it.
What a most beautiful fabric box was the beauty Lynn made for You! I really love your blog and want to someday have more stitching talents to do as beautifully stitchings as You.I have only stitched four years so I have lot to learn. Lovely post as allways.
ReplyDeleteWith blessings,Maija from Finland
Hey Carol!
ReplyDeleteWhat great Halloween Memories. This is such a wonderful time of year.
Your exchange with Lynn is fabulous. You both did such amazing projects. Such treasures. I love the reds that Lynn worked with.
I hope that your retreat is fabulous and I am looking forward to hearing about it.
Please put my name in the hat for either giveaway. My favorite Halloween treat.... I could give you a long list but I am back on my diet :)
Hugs!!!
What lovely gifts you received. Thank you for sharing your fun holiday memory. At Easter time the children in the family would always give me and my grandmother the black jellybeans. No one else liked them. :)
ReplyDeleteYour SB finishes are adorable. I would love a chance at your beautiful pillow. My favorite Halloween treat is Reese's PB cups.
Have a wonderful time at your retreat and with your parents. Wishing you safe travels.
A super header picture as your blog opened, it looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteFabulous giveaway, good luck to all who enter, the little ornament is wonderful.

Much love x
What a fabulous exchange you got from Lynn! And your "Give Thanks" is super cute! Please enter me in Giveaway No. 2. Thanks for having such a wonderful prize.
ReplyDeleteOooh--forgot about the treat: it's not specific to Halloween, but chocolate (Lindor Truffles) go great with any season!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful stitching, I can't tell you how inspired I am by reading your blog and seeing your wonderful finishes. Hallowe'en stitching is so colourful and vibrant, and I would dearly love to be entered in to your giveaway for the beautiful little cushion. My favourite part of Hallowe'en has to be the carved pumpkins, glowing with candlelight on Hallowe'en night, and the smell of candle wax and pumpkin! Hallowe'en is not celebrated as mush here in the UK as it is in the US, which is a great shame. My children used to love dressing up to go Trick or Treating, and them home for a slice of pumpkin pie - still my daughter's absolute favourite! Happy Hallowe'en to all!! Lots of love, Lynda. (Email gamlingay1@sky.com)
ReplyDeleteLovely gifts you got! The box looks perfect! It's so cool how you stitch over one...looks darling. And I love the way you finished the little pillow with all the ribbons and ric- rac. I wish you a Happy Halloween and
ReplyDeletehave fun at the retreat and enjoy the time with your parents. Hugs,

Happy Halloween, bb!! :)
Wow! What a gorgeous exchange Carol. I love your little turkey finish - so cute. Enjoy your retreat, it always sounds like you had a great time.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful gifts, Carol! Treasures for always! I would love a chance to give your turkey pillow a home ~ your sweet finishes always inspire. Lynn and Myra sent you some beautiful gifts Carol, absolutely gorgeous! Love your Thanksgiving stitching, you must have enjoyed it to stitch it so beautifully twice!
ReplyDeleteLovely gift and love the candy corn coaster from Myra! How clever. :) I feel like I shouldn't enter the giveaway since I already have a few well-loved items "made by Carol" but I will share what my favorite treat is. I love Take Fave candy bars. I was told today that they came in fun size and I am so happy I didn't know that because I may have eaten a whole bag since I don't get trick or treaters! Whew...perhaps my waist line is saved. I hope you have a fantastic time on your retreat. I can't wait to hear all about it! And a good trip to NY too. I know your mom will be so happy to see you. Love and hugs...
ReplyDeleteHi Caorl,
ReplyDeleteYour exchange pieces from Lynn are lovely. And the candy cane coaster is a cutie. Ofcourse, I would LOVE to be entered in giveaway # 2. Anything hand made by you would be far greater than stitching it myself! I could admire the turkey while eating my new favorite candy--almond snickers.
Your retreat sounds like a spectacular get away. And enjoy your visit with your parents. I especially hope your Dad will give you a big hug.

Hope that you and your stitchy-bloggy friends have a great weekend together.
Blessings!
Gorgeous, gorgeous!! Love the exchange you received from Lynn. The boxes that she does are amazing aren't they? Please don't enter me in the giveaway, we are not really a "Happy Thanksgiving" country in the UK, but I just wanted to say I just adore the liitle pillow. Those colours and finishing design are just stunning.

Carol, I never cease to be amazed and impressed by your beautiful blog! Love your new header! Black cats and witches compete for my two favourite things at Halloween but my favourite treat are the little Aero chocolate bars - just melt in your mouth goodness! Your gifts from Lynn and Myra are beautiful. Your Give Thanks ornaments are so beautifully done (recurring theme - beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!) You are so generous! Thanks as always for the joy you bring by sharing your stitching and life with us.

ReplyDeletethey are all so pretty. What nice giveaways. As always, i get a smile when i read your blog.
ReplyDeleteOh, I would love to win either one! I need a turkey for my "smalls" collection. I so enjoy reading your blog, always full of fun and inspiration. I just wish I could stitch things up as quickly as you seem to do! I'd have to say my favorite Halloween treat is those peanut butter kisses wrapped in the orange and black papers, but when I can't find them a Reese's peanut butter cup will do. Have fun on your stitching retreat!
ReplyDeleteHalloween around here is a small thing yet, not the party and fun like it is over there! hehehe I usually decorate my house and make something different but not this year.. I've been on baby mode this year ;) heheheh
