So, I know you're not here to listen to me prattle on about Downton Abbey, are you? No one was able to guess what my theme was for my September bowl...Many of you guessed apples or pumpkins; both good ideas, but in the end I went with...squirrels!! Here in western Pennsylvania, we have an abundance of squirrels...red squirrels, gray squirrels, even an occasional albino squirrel! I so enjoy sitting in my kitchen watching their antics as they try to figure out how to break into the bird feeder and scamper away with the birdseed. So, in honor of these entertaining, sometimes annoying, little fellows...here are my five September squirrel creations...
September 2012 Squirrel Finishes |
"French Country Squirrel" by JBW Designs
This Trilogy piece called "Autumn Tree" is my next finish. These little
trees must really appeal to me because I've now stitched their "Cheer" tree as well as their Spooky tree.
I used 40 ct. flax Newcastle linen with an assortment of autumn colored
overdyeds for this one. I thought the leaf fabric picked up the colors
of the leaves on the trees really well so I sewed a simple pillow with
some orange ric rak peaking out. A very quick finish!
"Autumn Tree" by The Trilogy
I've had this piece of gold-toned Jobelan in my stash for the longest
time and I'm thrilled to finally have found something to use it for. I
wish you could see the true color--in the photo it is looking a bit
washed out, but it really is the loveliest golden autumn shade. Midnight
Stitching is the designer of this piece called "Quaker Acorn I." I
believe this is the first time I've stitched one of their designs and I
truly enjoyed it. I used WDW's "Mocha" thread and finished it with a
simple edging treatment of coppery brown beads.
"Quaker Acorn I" by Midnight Stitching
Next we come to the design that ended up taking most of my time this
month! Wow! I had forgotten how much time a single block of Hawk Run
Hollow pieces can take!! This block is from Carriage Hill Samplings
"Autumn At Hawk Run Hollow," but if you've stitched it yourself, you'll
notice a big change. In the charted design there is a big white sheep
under the left side of the tree. Well, we don't see many sheep in my
part of the world--let alone in the woods! So, I substituted two little
squirrels sharing (fighting over?) a single acorn. I also changed the
color of the grass to a darker shade than charted and left off two of
the acorns on the right side. I'm very pleased with how it turned out
even though the over one stitching on this one about drove me crazy. It
is stitched on 28 ct. light taupe lugana using DMC threads and the
fabric shown behind it is what I used to back the small pillow. If you
look closely, you can spy a tiny heart carved into the tree with the
first initials of my husband and myself...
Autumn at Hawk Run Hollow (Fourth Block)
And finally, a design from one of my favorite designer's... Homespun
Elegance, called "Joyful Autumn." This stitched up fairly quickly on 28
ct. cafe mocha linen. Again, it is stitched "over one" using Crescent
Colours "Hazelnut" and DMC 3787 for the squirrel. I did make one change
and flipped the squirrel so he was facing into the design rather than
away from it. Using a black and tan gingham fabric I finished it into a
simple pillow and adorned it with two tiny acorns hung from some gold
cording (leftover from the cording on my pillow shown above). Isn't that
wooden squirrel adorable--he is part of a pair that once belonged to my
dear grandmother. I think of her whenever I bring them out for fall
decorating...
"Joyful Autumn" by Homespun Elegance
Here is a closeup of the acorn embellishement for you. I found these wee
acorns at the library one day when I was walking into work amidst piles
of normal size acorns. Aren't they cute? I never dreamed I would end up
using them in a finish, but here they are! I enlisted the help of my
husband who drilled a hole in the top of each acorn cap (after I
separated the cap from the acorn) with a dremel tool. Then I simply
slipped in the cording, tied a knot so it wouldn't pull through all the
way, and glued the acorn cap back on. Simply add a wooden button and
you've got a unique trim for your finished fall pillows...
Close-up of acorn embellishment
And here are the five finishes all together? I think my favorite is the
block from Autumn At Hawk Run Hollow, but the French Country Squirrel is
a close second. How about yours?
September 2012 finishes
And what would a squirrel do without some acorns to keep him happy and healthy? I found this tutorial
for making little fabric acorns to be most helpful. We don't have an
oak tree in our yard, but, luckily, the ones on the grass at my library
are free for the picking! These stitch up very quickly and I think they
add a playful touch to my display.
Fabric acorns
So, nine bowls down...three to go! When I began this "monthly
bowl" journey in January, I really wondered if I could come up with
enough new finishes every month to fill the bowl. Well, it looks like I
might just achieve my dream... IF I can get through the next
three very, very busy months. I am so appreciative of all your
supportive comments and suggestions along the way. They make me want to
keep creating! Below is the final September bowl along with the Prairie
Schooler September squirrel that I finished and framed a few years
back...

Here is a closeup shot for you...
And another...
Squirrels were even included in my gift-giving this month! One of my very first blogging friends, Myra, celebrated a birthday last week so I wanted to send her a new ornament for her lovely Halloween tree. I fell in love with Fancey Blackett and The Harvest Dance
last fall when I saw it on several blogs so I chose to stitch just a
portion of it for Myra. The dancing duo just make me smile each time I
see them. Can't you just picture a lively group of skinny witches and
giant squirrels dancing the night away in some distant forest? This
Pineberry Lane design is one of my favorites and I hope to stitch the
entire piece for myself next year. Myra's pillow was stitched with the
suggested DMC threads on 40 ct. flax Newcastle linen. And take a look at
that orange fabric on the bottom...it is adorned with the cutest little
black paw prints. Perfect for Halloween and for my dear friend Myra,
who is a huge animal lover. I wish you a most happy year ahead, Myra,
with lots of stitching time thrown in...

A SPECIAL THANK YOU... I was so pleased to receive a copy of her new book, Cozy Wool Applique Pillows, from my friend, Liz, who blogs over at Sunflower Fields Pattern Co..
I've been following Liz's blog since she first started it and am just
enthralled with her little wool applique creations. Her book is filled
with such creative and fun little pillows--I love it!! I'm not sure I
have the talent to create one myself, but I hope to get up my nerve and
try my hand at wool applique some day. Her book sales are doing very
well and she is now planning another one for children as well. Go check
out her blog and tell her I sent you--you'll love her adorable creations! Thanks so much, Liz, for sharing your book and your friendship!
Gift from Liz: "Cozy Wool Applique Pillows"
Whew--I was certainly long-winded today, wasn't I? I'm so sorry for
writing a "book" here, but I sure hope you enjoyed my "squirrely" post.
I'll be out of the loop for a while now due to our upcoming belated
anniversary trip to Asheville, NC and also my trip to visit my parents
up in New York State in October. I will miss all of you, but will catch
up with everyone when I return. Thank you, as always for all of your
wonderful comments, emails, and friendships--you fellow stitchers are
the best!! Bye for now...

Ohh I love the squirrels too!!!
love this little autumn stich,
beautiful entry in this autumn!
kisses from Spain
^^
I was wrong again ! I thought it would be apples and you make a basket of cute squirrels ! Love all the acorns .. My favorite is the Homespun elegance because of the way you finished it ! Amazing ! Enjoy your trips !
I love squirrels and acorns too....such a wonderful display setup of your beautiful stitching. The acorn charm on the JBW is a wonderful idea....I have one and may just add it to my squirrel already stitched. You have so many cute ideas and fortunately/unfortunately I have an abundance of acorns of all sizes in my acreage.
Who would have expected that theme! I didn't realize there were so many squirrel patterns out there. Love the JBW one (I love all those French Country designs of theirs anyway. The Quaker acorn design is so pretty in that mocha thread. Actually the thread looks kind of purple-y on my monitor.
What a great idea to use real acorns as trim. And how handy to have the DH around to help.
Thanks for sharing the tute link. Hadn't seen that before.
They are all so lovely and what a great idea to use squirrels for your theme (you clever girl)! I was thrilled to read that the new season of Downton will start in January - hooray!!!!! I look forward to seeing your October creations.
You're smalls are just awesome! I love everything about them... from the patterns, to your stitching, to the way you finished them all :-) Well done!!
all simply gorgeous, as always.....your work amazes me....
I think the JBW squirrel is my favorite...I LOVE all of their designs...have many myself...
It is great you have kept up with the theme for the year...have you thought of next year's yet?!?!!?
Oh wow! I love your September ornies! I do think the Autumn at HRH pillow is my favorite. :D I love how you used those little tiny acorns as an embellishment! I think if I'd tried that I would have just ended up breaking the acorns! btw, it's nice not to have an oak tree in your yard -- or at least hanging over your house. lol! Our old house used to have an oak tree hanging over it. Every fall, it got a bit noisy with the acorns falling on our house! lol! Love seeing your September bowl -- beautiful!
Oh Carol, I couldn't possibly pick a favourite, they are all soo lovely.
Look forward to your next months creations.
Hugs
I love love love your September bowl - all the pieces are wonderful! Enjoy your anniversary trip - You are very welcome....
I'm a squirrel lover too! The funniest thing I've ever seen is a squirrel taking a "bath" in our flower boxes. There weren't any flowers in them and he rolled and burrowed and rolled, for all the world like he was drying himself off after getting wet. So cute!! Anyway, my favorite is the adorable JBW stitch, and I love the older Prairie Schooler, too, but they are all as sweet as can be!!
These are all so perfect - you're just amazing! And I love the acorns! So cute! Thanks for sharing the tutorial, Carol!
I'm not a fan of squirrels, but I must say, your stitching and finishing are wonderful!
I LOVE your september bowl! What a great idea and I just happen to have an antique wooden bowl passed down from my Grandmother... HMMMMM...
so pretty carol. I was at the park yesterday and picked up some acorns for a project i am working on. Squirrels and acorns, how cute.
As always, your finishes are amazing. Sure, it's nice to have all those stitched pieces, but SO much nicer to have them stitched up and on display instead of languishing in a drawer. You make me want to be a better finisher. :-)
I do think the Hawk Run Hollow one is my favorite though. I have a special place in my heart for personalized patterns and I adore the little heart on the tree. Well done!
bellissimo il tuo settembre, così colorato!!!
Teresa
Congrats on meeting your goal for the month, the pieces you chose are wonderful and the finishing is awesome too! I love how you used the acorns to embellish Joyful Autumn. Might just have to steal the idea!
You've stitched and created so many wonderful fall pieces. They all look fabulous.
Wow, Carol! Another one bowl filled with lovely pieces! I definitely didn't guess squirrels, but thought maybe leaves and acorns. I love the block from Autumn at HRH.
Have a super trip to NC!
Robin in Virginia
Your beautiful stitching & finishes never cease to amaze me! I love your squirrel theme! I had an aunt who instead of Shirlee used to call me Squirrely ... lol! Keep safe on your trips ... & Happy Anniversary!
What fun to find a new posting from you! I am always so in awe of your stitching and your incredibly beautiful and clever finishes!! You are very creative and so talented!!
Squirrels are so much fun to watch, aren't they? We have loads of them here in Michigan - tan, brown, grey and black!
Your decisionnromstitch them was fun and quite unexpected.
Thank you so much for sharing your stitching and blog with us - it's truly a joy to see your beautiful work.
I love your finishes Carol. I have to say my favorites are the same as yours. LOVE the acorn embellishment. Have a great October.♥
Hiya! great September bowl and post. DA is the best, glad you enjoyed, welcome to the obsession:)
What an amazing finishes you had for September all gorgeous and really cute :) and I love those stitched acorns :D
Congratualtions :)
What a great set of finishes, congrats. Enjoy Downton Abbey, I'm a great fan too :-)
I love all of the squirrely designs! Your finishing is perfect. Have a wonderful vacation. Asheville, NC is one of my favorite places.
Visiting this post was like visiting the fall festival. They are such wonderful finishes.
I did think about you the past few weeks, with your sunflower post. On my commute, one of the farms planted a field of sunflowers as a memorial tribute to someone that died. People have been stopping to take pics and it just reminded me of your sunflower post. They are so cheery! They mowed them down the other day, it made me pretty sad.
good september for you too
I think joyful autumn is my favourite, simply because i lo e th way you finished it - you are very smart noticing those tiny acorns and then thinking you can use them in your finishing! i love reading your blog - always everything so creative and pretty
Wow, you have been very busy indeed. I love your collection of little squirrels. One day, I hope to have enough smalls stitched to make a seasonal basket. Of course, I also wish for more time lol.
Sending hugs
What wonderful pictures and finishes! You're certainly been busy in September!
Carol, your new finishes are just wonderful! I especially love "Joyful Autumn" by Homespun Elegance!
Tatyana
Carol, you never fail to delight with your stitching photos and this bowl is no exception, it's beautiful! My favourite is the Autumn at Hawk Run Hollow piece, but I also love the PS squirrel although I know it's not part of this months stitching. What are you planning to stitch for October?
I hope you enjoy both your trips!
awww I love the squirrels too!!!
love this little autumn stitch,so beautiful..
all of them are so cute..
love for you xxx
Oh my and another wonderful post , again just beautiful what a wonderful stitcher you are Carol.
You always stitch just the cutest things and your finish is fantastic.
I love Downton Abbey, can't get enough of it so just love Sundays now . I am going to a stitching show in Exeter tomorrow once they had all the dress's from Downton on show they were so small the girls must be so tiny , hugs.
I love all your squirrel finishes Carol, maybe my favourite would be the JBW one, but all are lovely.
Here we do not see squirrels too often (although around my office they appear from time to time), but I remember seeing loads of them when I was in England. they are really funny sometimes, even climb into your bag just to catch some food :)
I hope you will have a nice time with your trips and looking forward to see your October bowl.
Hugs, Edit
I LOVE the squirrel theme Carol! Iris, Isaac and I sit and watch the grey squirrels playing on our fence as we eat our breakfast. I know many here in the UK consider grey squirrels to be vermin, but I think they're adorable.
Ohhh, my favourite? Well, I think I may be in the minority but the quaker acorn really appeals to me. The beaded finish is really pretty.
As for Downton...well don't tell anybody but I haven't seen a single episode! It's not my husband's cup of tea so I may borrow my friend's boxed set and watch it when Isaac is on his nap. It just worries me that I may not get any stitching done if I watch it!
Ooh... Squirrels. I'd never have guessed that though looking at your finishes, I'd have thought squirrels and acorns is your theme ^.^
My favourite would be the Autumn at HRH too though I'm in love with the acorn embellishment you made for Joyful Autumn. That's just ingenious. Those fabric acorns you made are just adorable too.
Thanks for letting me know about the corder. I'll definitely look into getting one. By the way, what type of threads did you use to make the trim? It sure looks like some type of jute twine in the photo.
Hugs,
Veronica.
wow! I love your finishes and all very neatly finished.
Well done!!
Hope you have a lovely weekend!
Carol - What a great theme for September - certainly our squirrels and chipmunks have been busy gathering acorns. I admore they way you take a pattern, make changes, and 'make it yours'.
Oh, Carol, I love September's theme! Your collection of squirrels is fantastic and you chose such darling designs. I'm always amazed by your matching fabrics...you are so good at that! The little fabric acorns you made are very sweet. My oak tree produces small acorns, too tiny for this but I think I know where I can find some big ones down the street!
I'm a Downton Abbey fan. Even my husband likes it! Looking forward to season three!
Fabulous stitching and such creative finishing. I have really enjoyed watching you fill your bowl each month.
Wowza Carol, you certainly outdid yourself w/all of your 'squirrely' designs~LOL. They are all adorable and I love the finishes you come up with, esp. the acorn buttons/embellishments! How cute!
Have a wonderful trip and hope to see ya back on here soon!
Hugs,
Tanya
Sorry this time a short comment
I love all of your pieces again.. she finishes.. so beautifull.. love the fabric acrn, and the wooden squirels.. really love those wooden little ones!!
Have fun stitching
And of course your keeping this up!!!
Love to see all of your pieces next months!!
PS I'm stitching again too..
Need to go to bed now, it's to late, need to work tomorrow morning!!
I think the favorite part is all the acorns you've made and accessorized the display with. :D I also love the acorns used in finishing your pillow.
As for squirrels, I am not such a fan--but I love the red variety and would love to see one in person--you are so lucky!
Carol, Such a beautiful collection of smalls!! Each is as cute as the next and such beautiful stitching and finishing. It is always a delight to see a new post on your blog. Enjoy your trips!
Judy heartland stitcher
Oh Carol! I just love your posts so much. The squirrels are wonderful and those acorns...love love love them!
OMGosh, I don't know how you do it!6 smalls in a month...and over 1. You have turbo fingers! I love all your smalls. I think the touch of real acorns is fantastic and how sweet that it was a collaborative effort with DH. And the CHS block with initials "carved" into the tree! You always do something creative with your finishes. I hope you have a fantastic time in Asheville and NY with your folks. *hugs*
Carol, your Autumn needlework pieces are just wonderful, and as always, so beautifully finished! I think that my favorite pieces are the JBW squirrel and the gorgeous squirrel with leaves surrounding it....that frame is incredibly unique too!
Blessings!
Carol, just love squirrels and acorns so your basket is just absolutely perfect. I also have made those fabric acorns - they make great little additions to fall gifts.
Just love the squirrel photo!!!
It has been so fun waiting to see what you come up with each month for your bowl of smalls! I love the squirrel theme. They are all so different, but when put all together, they blend so well. I really like the Joyful Autumn. Do you have all the seasons in that Joyful series? And those acorns ~ so clever and cute!
Safe journeys!
Carol, once again you have beautiful stitching/finishes to share. I so look forward to your posts. Thanks for your ongoing inspiration - love the squirrel theme. I am north of Toronto and enjoy the entertainment provided by the many squirrels that visit in our backyard. Enjoy your trips! Wanda
My favorite is Hawk Run, but those little acorn embellishments are just so sweet! You certainly get a lot done in a short amount of time and always impeccable. Enjoy your trip!!
Your Autumn finishes are gorgeous. Love them all. Have a good trip. I LOVE Downton Abbey and informed all my family not to ring when it is on lol.
Your September bowl is delightful! I love, love, love the acorn trim you and your husband made together. I would have never thought of something like that!
I succumbed to the Downton Abbey craze at the end of Season 1. I'm glad I did. It's beautifully done.
Happy Belated Anniversary! Enjoy your travels!
Carol, I love your theme for September! All your finishes are wonderful, as always, and I especially love how you used the little acorns. Yes, we are on the 3rd series of Downton and I can tell you this series is shaping up to be as good as the others. Enjoy your travels!
What a squirreltastic post! I love the little acorn you made to decorate your stitched pieces. Everything in this post is so inspirational. X
I cannot tell you how much your monthly bowl of smalls inspire me Carol. I look forward to reading all of these posts! I love the way you have personalised the Hawk Run Hollow block, it's adorable.
Thank you so much for the kind words you left on my blog recently. Comments like that really do make me smile.
Best wishes and happy stitching.
Just beautiful! I love the way you used the acorns.
Enjoy your upcoming trip and maybe I'll see you when in New York.
Pam
I just seeing your ornaments every time. I wish I was creative as you when it came to finishing. They are all just so pretty.
Oh I'm enjoying the new series of Downton. Let me tell you you will not be disappointed!
Wow! Carol! I love all your squirrels, what a wonderful motif for September. Your finishing is so lovely.
Your gift for Myra was just perfect. I know she was ecstatic!
Isn't it wonderful when you find a show like Downton and you can sit and stitch and enjoy.
Have a wonderful weekend.
You know that I love a theme and your squirrels are just too cute. So many wonderful finishes, Carol!!!
Now that's a bowl full of September! Very nice - love those colors, of course. Can't wait to see October's selection. Hope yáll have a wonderful holiday anniversary in Asheville. Be well.
Love all those stitcheries, I can't pick a favorite. They are Ll so cute. Thanks for sharing. Always makes me happy to see what you have finished.
Carol, what a wonderful basket for September! Squirrels used to annoy me because they ate so much bird seed, but then I realized they deserve to eat too (but we still got a squirrel-proof bird feeder, though they manage to defeat it quite often). Your squirrels are such a harbinger of fall. How creative your acorns are!
My favorite is a toss-up between the French Country Squirrel and the Trilogy design, though all are terrific. Currently I am stitching the French Country Owl, and guess what color I am using - Sweet Potato!
Have a wonderful anniversary trip, and I hope you find your parents doing well.
oh Squirrels =) Have you ever had one inside your house?? hahahaha Cute for sure but.. If I saw one close to me, I would run! hahahah :D
One over one? Never did that :p but I did try to stitch with one strand on 42ct :) I'm not seeing the whole design yet so I'm not sure if I'm enjoying or not heheh but like I told you before, I loved yours! I had to try =)
I love the leaf fabric :D I'm looking for something just like that to stitch a pillow with my Autumn cat! Please, if you know some online store where I could find, let me know =)
Beautiful colors on Autumn at Hawk Run Hollow :D
ohhhh so cute!! That acorn detail is the cutest =)))
Congrats on all your finishes sweetie! All really pretty :)
hugs&smiles
Beautiful beautiful stitching.
I am so glad that you have enjoyed Downton Abbey, you are so going to like the third series. The first two episodes have been superb.
Another stellar post with so much to drool over!! First off, looove Downton Abbey! I was a bad girl and watched it online since we don't have cable. I want to order the dvd sets though as it's something I could rewatch again. Love 3rd season so far!
Yay!! Squirrels!! You won my heart over! I adore squirrels! All the designs you chose are amazing and special. The Autumn Hawk Hallows pillow is adorable and I think the squirrels are fighting over the acorn!! The 1 over 1 is amazing!! The pillow that really stole my heart is Joyful Autumn with those darling acorns dangling! So creative you are!! Wish I had a drill to do funky stuff with!! Thanks for the link to the tutorial in making little fabric acorns. I'll have to give it a go once I find some acorns...I think the squirrels got to them first. I thoroughly enjoyed your squirrely post including the real squirrel!!
Hugs!
Anne
Another Downton convert!! Sweeeeet. :) I'm keeping up with the third season that just started in the UK via download and it's two thumbs up so far. Shirley Mclaine as Cora's mother is a hoot and a half. lol
The real life squirrels and I don't get along much because they are too greedy with my bird feeders but they *are* cute as the dickens. Love all the new little stitchies for this month! And OMG the initials on the tree!!!!!!
The next three months are so busy I don't think anyone will have any complaints if you dug into your already finished stash a little to 'pad' your remaining monthly bowls a little. JUST SAYING. :)
Have fun on your trip to NC!!!!!!
Hi Carol, Your bowl must be amazing. So many wonderful finishes!!!! Have a good trip!
Downton Abbey certainly is a wonderful series! Your September stitches look gorgeous and those acorns are so cute! The gift for Myra is also great!
Carol, I just love your collection of squirrels - perfect for September! I think my favorite is the larger Prairie Schooler one. As always, the finishing is amazing!
Hello Carol, How you have blessed us with a chuck full of squirrels. I have certainly enjoyed following you with your monthly bowls and it is always sheer eye candy.
They are always beautifully adorned and this month, no exception:))
I sometimes pick up a pinecone or two, or a stick while I am out walking and bring them home to play with them and incorporate them somewhere in my craft.
I don't know if I should have a favorite this month. I like them all, but the one that is apart for me would be the rushing finish on the JBW (squirrel piece). The ribbons is absolutely striking.
How nice of you to post a link to the tutorial on the acorn. Yours turned out very cutsey too.
You received a very nice booklet, Cozy Wool… from your friend Liz. The pumpkins in the forefront on the left is working for me:) LOL. No pressure in sending a finished pillow over here. LOL. (Just kidding).
The gift for Myra is just too cute and it makes me laugh. I think it will do the same for her.
I will be counting the days of your return from your trips to North Carolina and New York. Please send my warm regards to your parents for me. It is a blessing to have them.
…Oh and don't forget to enjoy your anniversay trip. LOL.
Take care and I look forward to your next post.
Hugs Carol:)),
Jackie
Ah, Downton Abbey would certainly give you some quality stitching time, Care. I do love the show as well. Even Brad found himself pulled into the show when he was living with us.
I love the squirrels you've created. They were cuter when we lived in NH. Now, in Boston, they tend to remind me of large tree climbing rats...as they love to get into our garbage. They're absolutely huge here!
The French piece is so unique-great bright color. I love the detail in the squirrel. I noticed the shapes in the squirrel's body. I though maybe I just just imagining them, but I then read that section of the blog to discover they were actually thee. So cute. I also found myself drawn to your "Quaker Acorn I" piece. I love the color of the thread. It absolutely fits for a fall piece. It's so subtle in comparison to the French piece. I'm wondering if I just like the idea of shapes within a figure, as it seems these pieces have some commonalities that I didn't really think about until writing.
As always--beautiful work, Care. I continue to be in awe of your stitching talents. Thanks for sharing. Julie
Oh my gosh, what fun projects, Carol!! I think my favorite is the CHS AiHRH block--but of course you already knew that. ;) The fabric acorns are adorable, too. Love that little squirrel picture! I never thought I'd miss something like squirrels, but I do. Thanks for sharing the pic!
Wonderful collection! Love the frame on the PS squirrel!!
Another fantastic bowl Carol I look forward to this post each month!
Your ornaments are so sweet Carol, specially the JBW designs one! I just pinned it!:) JBW is one of my favorites.
Hugs,
Ana Paula.
Oh wow weeee I love everything but I really love the acorns! Fantastic
http://heathersstitchingstory.blogspot.co.uk
Such a wonderful display for this time of year! What will you do next year when all your basket will be filled with your hard work this year? Hope you have a great time in Asheville and visiting! I'm trying to catch up from early September and it's hard!
Gorgeous as usual, love them! My favorite is Joyful Autumn with the acorn embellishments!
Hugs,
I always enjoy seeing your wonderful monthly "bowl" creations and this month did not disappoint.
Your stitching and finishing are simply superb! My favorite is the CHS AaHRH block. Love the appple tree with the squirrels and the little details you added -- your initials on the tree! Wonderful creativity.
Have a wonderful anniversary trip and enjoy spending time with your parents.
Wow. Such cute squirrelly smalls! Love them all. And the way you finish them is so creative! What a fantastic monthly display!
Congrats on another month completed! Way to go! And they are all so cute! NOT going to play favorites... they are all wonderful! Good stitches, good finishes! Thanks for sharing! Hugs!
Love your little acorns Carol and all your beautiful stitching !! Fancy Blankett is so cute ! As usual you are an inspiration . I hope you have a wonderful trip to NC and also a great visit with your parents. All the best!!

My favourite is the Quaker Acorn :)
Hugs,
Tatyana
I am blown away by your beautiful bowls. How creative you are!
Love your finishes this month. You know how I love acorns and they go so well with the squirrels too. Be well and be safe on your trip. Tell us all about it when you get a chance.
Hi Carol! Isn't Downton Abbey wonderful? I joined the party after the fact too. :o) Love all your "squirrely" stitching but not quite as much as my b'day present. Thanks again for making my b'day special. Love those cute little acorns too - you are so creative. I hope you are enjoying your anniversary.
Muchos besos.
Carol, as you have always been a hard worker. I love your finishes, more beautiful. Thank you very much for the tutorial acorn.
I've gone to visit Liz, very cute designs.
Hope you enjoy your next trip and get some rest.
Many kisses.
All your squirrel finishes are gorgeous, congratulations
Hi Carol, I am so glad I visited your blog and now am a follower :) I had thought I was following already but somehow not. I love that beautiful sunflower in your header and all the great squirrels you made this past month!! I am a squirrel person too, love all animals really and enjoy watching them in their habitats. It is fun watching the squirrels running and jumping around, we have mainly grey ones here and some black ones.
I love your great idea of doing a bowl of smalls each month! I went back thru your posts from the year and each month was so great, love the sunflowers from August! and the strawberries in June. All such sweet ideas. I am glad to finally read your posts. Have a wonderful day!

Hi Carol. I am catching up on reading blog posts, and just now read your post of squirrel finishes. Once again you have impressed me with your finishing skills and fun designs. The tiny acorns you added as an embellishment...too cute! I wouldn't have thought of doing that. Also your tiny fabric acorns...so cute.
Adorable finishes!!! (I don't know how I missed this post)
How clever to use the acorns like that. I'll have to remember that one. Love the idea!
What a lot to take in! Where to start?
Cute bird - how darling!
Love the little acorns - too cute!
I've always wanted to visit the Biltmore Estate, but haven't had the chance as yet - maybe one day!
PS - I just moved my blog - I hope you'll come visit me at my new digs!
Love your choice of squirrels for September. There are so many of them in my neighbourhood right now, scurrying around collecting their food stores. I enjoy watching their antics too!
Your finishes are all so adorable. I'm in awe of those little acorns you sewed up. Too cute! They're the perfect addition to your finishes for the month.
Another gorgeous monthly bowl!! My favourite design is French Contry Squirrel but I have to say that the embellishment you've made with real acorns is genius!!!
Such beautiful finishes! I love everything. Thanks for sharing.
