It's Giveaway Time!
Hello everybody! I finally got this little piece finished to add to my giveaway to celebrate reaching 200+ followers. You may recognize it as a freebie from Plum Pudding NeedleArt. I just loved Barbara's designs, don't you? If you're not familiar with them, check out her website. I stitched this little fall pillow on 32 ct. willow green Belfast linen using DMC threads (although I changed the pumpkin's colors to DMC 435 and 780).
I originally planned on offering just one giveaway, but as the number of followers kept increasing I now have two! Shown to the right is the Halloween giveaway which consists of my little stitched "Boo Web" pillow, a Prairie Schooler chart called "Boo To You," the Trilogy "Halloween Spots" chart, three 12" x 18" cuts of bright, Halloweeny fabric, three 9" X 12" pieces of fall colored stitching fabrics (18 ct. raw cork linen, 32 ct. gold Jobelan, and 32 ct. Barnwood linen), and 5 DMC threads to use with the PS chart. Oh, and what giveaway would be complete without a bit of chocolate included?
Because some of you aren't crazy about Halloween, I decided to center my other giveaway around a simple autumn theme. If you win this prize, you'll receive my latest "Blessed Be" stitched pillow, the Prairie Schooler "October" chart, the Trilogy "Happy Gobble Gobble Day" chart, 3 autumn colored cuts of fabric, three 9" X 12" pieces of stitching fabric (18 ct. raw cork linen, 32 ct. gold Jobelan, and 32 ct. Barnwood linen), 5 DMC threads to be used with the PS chart, and of course, some yummy Dove chocolate.
This giveaway is for my followers--old and new, young and not-so-young, in the U.S. or anywhere around the world. To even things up, there will only be one entry per person. You may enter both giveaways, but you can only win one. Please tell me in your comment if you want to enter both, or just the Halloween or Autumn giveaway. Make sure to include an email address if your entry doesn't link you directly back to a blog identity. Oh, and just to make it interesting for me--I'd love to hear the name and a bit about your favorite children's book or books. What made it special to you? It can be a book you read as a child or one you read to your own children. I will leave the giveaway open until Friday, October 15th at 5 PM Eastern Standard time and announce the winners on Saturday, October 16th...
Most of you know that I'm a reference librarian in a very busy public library, but did you know that I originally planned on being a children's librarian? I took all the prerequisite courses, but once I took my first reference course, I was hooked! I just love the questions people come up with when they stop at the reference desk--everything from what price a stock traded at on December 31, 1997, to how to fix an electric motor, to the names of Henry VIII's wives. It's always something new and I leave work each day having learned so much! But, just because I work with adults, doesn't mean I ever stopped loving children's literature. Last week, I was sorting through a cupboard where I've stored some of my sons' favorite children's books and came across one of the beloved titles that my middle son used to adore. It is called "The Jolly Postman" and is about a postman who is delivering letters to several fairy tale characters (The Three Bears, the witch in the gingerbread cottage, Cinderella, etc.). The book contains little pockets in which the actual letters to these characters are held--check my collage photo and you'll see how sweet and unique this little book is...
I'm looking forward to hearing about your favorite children's books and I wish you all the best of luck in the giveaway. You all deserve something for being such a fun and interesting group of followers--thank you as always for your wonderful comments. I cherish each one more than you know...Have a wonderful week! Bye now...

Decisions decisions! I'd love to be entered into the Autumn giveway. Now for my favorite children's book, so many came to mind but one quickly rose to the top. I loved reading the Richard Scary books to my son. There was so much activity on each page the even before he could read we could point to thinks and learn. Thanks for bringing back some 28 year memories!

What a lovely giveaway! Thank you! I'd love to be entered for both. As for my favorite children's book, it has to be Blue Hat, Green Hat by Sandra Boynton. It's a simple, simple book, but oh my, my son just loved it so much! In fact all of Sandra Boynton's books tickled his funny bone, and mine too! I know it's not a complicated book, but boy, does it hold a place in my heart. :D
Carol --
What a great giveaway. I would be happy with either one:) My favorite books were about a doll named Edith and Mr. Bear. I don't remember the author but the books had a pink gingham border on the cover and were in black and white!
Thanks for offering this great giveaway. You are very generous!
Hi Carol,
I would love to be entered in your Autumn giveaway~ how generous of you on both and congrats to having so many followers!
I always loved the children's Bible stories because of their meaning, but I know there were many other types as well.
Thank you!

You are so sweet to offer this, Carol. Please sign me up for autumn! Your stitching is just too adorable!
It's been so long since I read a kid's book that's it hard for me to remember my favorite. But "Eloise" comes to mind. I thought it sounded so wonderful to live in the Plaza Hotel. Come to think of it... it still sounds that way.
Please enter me. I would be happy with either one. Thank you for your generosity. And your little pillows are just adorable.
Fabulous giveaway. I would be blessed to win either prize.
My favorite childhood book has always been The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter.
Even though my children our young adults now I still buy children's book to fill up my bookshelves. My niece is now 5 and reading all of my books I buy so I appreciate them even more.
Please enter me in the Halloween contest - I've gone so over the top with 'weenie desigs this year!
My favourite children's book at the moment, would have to be Mem Fox's - Where is the Green Sheep?
I drive my 12yo batty by quoting: One Sheep, Two sheep, Red sheep, Blue Sheep, but where is the Green Sheep?
I am SO going to make a quilt around this theme next year.
The one book that remains from my childhood as favourite would have to be Alice in Wonderland. Every time I read it, I had a different favourite character.
Thank you so much for this chance.
Since I love BOTH Halloween & Autumn, I would be thrilled to be entered in both. Thanks for the chance and your generosity!:^)
I'd have to say, a favourite book of mine as a child was "Heidi". I remember getting it as a gift for my 5th birthday, and my Mom reading it to me.
I loved that name so much that I picked it out as the name for our Sheltie puppy when we got her 14 years ago. (I had always thought I would like to use that name if I ever had a little girl... I had the little girl, but it turns out that my married name also begins with the letter H and it sounded too similar to Heidi, so it just didn't work :^)
OOooh I'd love to enter for the fall giveaway! Lovely little cushion. Favourite books?? Goodness - I love all the Shirley Hughes books and the Judith Kerr books. They are just fab. When I was younger I loved Enid Blyton stuff but since seeing her biography televised, I'm not so keen!! xx
I would love to be entered in both giveaways. It's so generous of you.
My favorite children's books that I read were a series. The Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder are still some of my favorites. I always thought how neat it would have been to grow up as Laura.
My favourite book has got to be Peter Pan. I just love the excitement of the children going off on their adventure. I've only just become a follower, but I would love to be entered into these wonderful giveaways, please put my name down for both! The prizes are just fantastic, I love the pillows. Congratulations on reaching such a high number of followers!
rebecca.hill@shpm.co.uk
Carol, please enter me into both of your wonderful draws. I'm love anything autumn and Halloween and would be thrilled to win either!
Thank you for putting together these generous giveaways!
My favourite childrens' book would have to be The Velveteen Rabbit. I used to read this one to all three of my boys. The particular copy that I have has wonderful illustrations and being the softies that they are, all my boys would weep when the little rabbit was discarded. It holds a special place in all our hearts and my eldest now reads it to his daughters in French nonetheless.
What a wonderful giveaway. I would love to win either package, both are great.
Ive got a couple books to share.
First is Sweet Smell of Christmas, a scratch and sniff book. I loved reading this at Christmas. Not sure what happened to the book I remember reading but was able to find a copy for my kids. Some of the smells have changed but still fun to read (and smell) at Christmas.
Other is really a series, Little House by Laura Ingalls Wilder. While my boys arent into these books, I do have a book crazy niece who Ive been getting these for.
What a wonderful giveaway! I would love to be entered for both of them. I don't have kids so there was no reading but the book that I have bought for the kids in my life is The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg. It's a wonderful Christmas story.
What fun! Not only might we have a chance at two wonderful prizes (please enter me for both) but we also get to reminisce about great books from childhood!
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom is probably number one for both my son and I as we loved chanting it as we read the book. A few years ago, I had it in a box for charity and my son, then 12, informed me I could give any other book away but NOT that one!
What a fabulous giveaway Carol! I'd love to be entered into the Halloween draw.
My passion, and I do mean PASSION, is Enid Blyton books. I have over 400 of them, in many different editions. From the age of about 8 I would read these books for hours and hours on end, totally lost in the magic of them. My favourite of all is 'Folk of the Faraway Tree'. I would have loved to have a magical tree at the bottom of my garden. I can't wait until my daughter is old enough to read them, I know they've dated a bit since they were written, but I hope they capture the imagination of children for many years to come!
Hey Carol! I was a Henry Higgins fan, a loooong time ago~lol. I'd be honored at the chance for your Autumn giveaway.
Have fun with your contest and congrats on your followers!
xoxo
What a beautiful and generous give-away! Of course, I'd love to win either of them but I am choosing the Halloween one! My favorite children's book was King of the Wind, the story of the Godolphin Arabian, by Marguerite Henry. I was a horse crazy (still am!)kid and I dreamt of owning one of these magnificent animals. My favorite book that I read to my DS, Mike, was Good Night Moon. I read that to him SO much that I could recite it by heart! Thanks for the great question and the great giveaway (crossing my fingers that I win!)!!
OH, OH, OH!!!! ME!!!! I want my name entered :o) How could I NOT???? I'm up for either. I just love the fact that each includes a stitched piece by you :o) You know I've been a follower for awhile now.
Favorite children's book? Funny you ask because I was looking for a copy of the one I love when we were away. It was by Little Golden Books and it was called The Golden Egg Book. It has a bunny in it of course ;o)
Thanks Carol!
Hi Carol, I would like to be entered in to both drawings please. The packages are so nice for both. As always, I adore your work. As a child I remember the Dick and Jane books - showing my age here lol. I have better memories of my childrens books. Dr. Suess- Go dog go- was the book my son first learned to read. I always enjoyed the Dr Suess books. I read so many books to the kids but this is what I remember the most.
Wonderful give-away Carol and I would be over the moon to one either of the prizes.
My favourite childrens books have to be the Enid Blytons Faraway Tree series and Famous Five. The love of reading has stayed with me since childhood and when I;m not stitching I usually have my nose in a book. I've got a large collection of childrens book to encourage my little mindees to read. Two year old Leons favourites just now are Thomas the Tank and Timmy Time.
Congrats on reaching all those followers. Hugs!
Lovely giveaway - I'd like to enter the Autumn giveaway.
The book I loved reading to my children (and now Grandchildren) is The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Great illustration, lots of color, counting - fun!

200+ followers, that's awesome and a tribute to your wonderful blog and sweet personality! I can't choose, so I please add my name to both :-)
I have loved to read since I was a kid and as my time is minimal these days, I now listen to books every spare second I have. I just finished the Heretic's Daughter - it was wonderful. As for children's books - all Dr. Seuss and Amelia Bedelia.
You are so sweet to be doing two generous giveaways, thank you! I am entering for the autumn giveaway please!
I loved Little Golden Books when I was a child and still have a few. I also love Green Eggs And Ham, it was my great grandmother's book that she'd read to me when I went to her house as a youngster!
Blessings, Jessica
I'd love a chance to enter both giveaways - please enter me!!
My favorite childhood book was Black Beauty :)
Thanks,
kimberlybreid at hotmail dot com
My favorites were always the Little House series... but I can't seem to get my girls to read them!
Generous gifts Carol & beautiful stitching :) Congrats on 200+ followers, that is wonderful! Please don't enter me into your giveaway though, I've already been fortunate enough to win one you've hosted :)
PLease enter me in both draws, check out my give aways too!!
My favorite book I remember reading with my grandpa who has passed on. I was actually trying to get a copy of it but I think its out of print now.
Anyways it was called "What Spot" by
Crosby Newell Bonsall
I'm not entering the giveway, but wanted to say : what a lovely ornament!!!!! =)
Please add my name to your Autumn giveaway...one of my favorite books was "Eloise" by Kay Thompson, about a little girl who lived at the Plaza Hotel in New York. I really loved it because my grandmother used to take me to the Plaza often when I was a little girl and it was a very grown-up and wonderful place, and I have lots of memories of those times. I still love to read it, even today.
I love fall and Halloween, so I would love to win either one! Most special would be having something stitched by you!
I have always loved to read and have never liked picking favorites. Probably some of my most read books were the Little House series, Paddington and of course, Winnie-the-Pooh (he always seems so wise in a silly sort of way). My oldest son loved "The Giving Tree", my middle one anything about trains, and my littlest one and I read "Bless Me" almost every night for quite some time!

Oh - the autumn giveaway please.
My favorite childrens books - the Noddy stories by Enid Blyton. I stitched a Noddy piece for someone last year and it brought back fond memories.
For my children - Love You Forever. Each of my son's were given this book at a critical time in their personal lives (nearing adulthood)and it meant so much to me and them. I cannot read it to this day without crying.
Hi Carol :)
I thought how'd I miss your last blog post.....oh yeah, because I was in pain and had to have my wisdom tooth out, LOL! Do I get brownie points for no sedation??? Anyways, both giveaways are lovely and I'd be honored to with either of them so please include me for both, thanks! I've been a follower for awhile now, I just love your stitching.
As you know I work in the Library too so it's no surprise I know all kinds of great books! My childhood fav is (gasp) Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. I know you're surprised right? I love how Alice could escape her life and have the wonderful adventure in Wonderland as I wanted to escape my childhood too :) I used to get bullied a lot but I enjoyed being alone for the most part.
My Son's favorite book is Diary of a Wimpy Kid and my daughter absolutely loves Harry the Dirty Dog which is a fun read :)
Oh my, I'd like to win either of these wonderful giveaways!
I have too many favorites to pick just one!!! I do have a special fondness for the Beverly Cleary books. Remember when Henry buys a pair of guppies and ends up with fish all over his bedroom? Love it!
Ooo, I would love to be entered in both exchanges please. Thanks for your generosity!
My fave book when I was a child was "Charlie & The Chocolate Factory", as a teen I loved a book called "Lyrico" about a flying horse.
Thank you
LISA V
What a lovely thing to have 2 giveways with 2 different themes! I would love a chance to win the Autumn themed one.
My favourite children's book was probably Heidi only because it was the first book I can remember owning. I must've been 11 or 12 by then. My uncle, who was very frugal, gave me a brand new hardback of Heidi and he inscribed it and everything. It is one of my most treasured books!
I love autumn, please enter me in your giveaway.
My children love fairy tales and Enid Blyton's books especially the Famous Five.
Hugs,
Please enter me in both giveaways!
My favourite children's book is The Magic Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton. I remember my grade 5 teacher reading it to us on Friday afternoons. I loved her reading, she made the story come alive and it was the first time anyone had read to me. As an adult now, I understand why my 12 you son still loves to be read to.
Well I don't get to do a lot of reference work but I do love the search it sends you on sometimes. You learn a lot of cool stuff along the way!
Congratulations on your 231 followers milestone! I'm sure your beautiful blog will have more and more readers. :) Please enter me into both giveaways!

What a wonderful giveaway Carol! I would certainly like to be entered. As here we do not have Halloween so much, I would chose the Autumn giveaway. Love your little stitched ornament and the fabrics. And a PS chart... I simply love Ps designs :)
My favourite children's book? When I was a child I used to read a lot, much more than nowadays. One of my favourites was Little House in the Big Woods, as you coul guess from one of my previous blog posts :) I also liked the books of Eric Kastner.

Edit
What a lovely giveaway. I would like to be entered in both. My favourite book as a child was The Famous Five by Enid Blyton.
Hi Carol
I'd love to be entered in the draw please. I'd be happy to win either prize.
The book that sticks out most in my mind from my childhood is 'The House That Sailed Away'.
Have a great week.
OHMYGOSH, both giveaways are so awesome, how to pick? It's like Sophie's Choice! (Ok, so not really.) Sign me up for the Halloween one, please! I do love me some Halloweenies. :)
That children's book is really cool. I've never seen that one before. I read a lot as a kid but don't really remember any from when I was really wee other than a fondness for the Berenstein Bears books? If we're going older than that though, my favorite book was A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I think I've read that one about a dozen times. :)
The Jolly Postman was a big favourite in this house Carol! I still have the copy and several other books that I have yet to be able to part with because they were my children's favourites to have read to them. As for my childhood, I remember loving Swallows and Amazons by Arthur Ransome and I was a huge Chalet School fan, the series by Elinor Brent-Dyer.
Two lovely giveaways, I'm not sure that I can pick one over the other so please pop my name in for both as I'd love to win either of them.
Please entre me into both giveaways.
The best childrens books I love is Peter Rabbit by Beatrice Potter, I loved it as a child and enjoyed reading it to my own children, who both now have the complete set. When looking for a small gift for a child I will always buy this book.

As to favorite children's books...oh my! All of them! no, I think my very favorite, I learned about when middle child was in preschool. It is called Love You Forever...the teacher read it to us at a Mother's Day Tea. How sweet....and now, look where my middle child is today!
I'd be happy to win either and couldn't pick one so please enter me into both.
I've been a big reader since third grade. I loved the series: BoxCar Children and Nancy Drew. I also had a book that was full of the different breeds of horses. It had beautiful pictures. I spent hours pouring over that book and dreaming of horses.
I love both give-away and would love to enter both, they are both so great.....
I don't have a favorite children's book because I have dyslexie and, hated to read when OI was a child because of al the bully the other children did.
When I was very little my father always read to my out of the disney colletion, and was in love with Cinderella, for my son I'm a member again, so got the books again, I'm learning a lot of reading, and it help that he can't correct me yet.......

I love your little pillows that you stitched up for your giveaways, but please don't enter my name...I consider myself a winner just to have people visit me at my blog and I know you do, so that is gift enough for me :) I'm anxious to see who the big winners are though! LOL!
My favorite children's book is Blueberries for Sal...I love the drawings and the coloring of them. I also love anything by Richard Scarry...his books were awesome and the big ABC Richard Scarry book...I can look and look and look at that one and find something new every time. :0)

I'd love to be entered into both giveaways please!
Let's see: my absolute favourite kids book has to be...Well, I don't remember most of what I read when I was very young, but I do remember the Noddy books fondly. (I think they're by Enid Blyton?)
Later on it was the Five Find-Outers and Dog by Enid Blyton (I dislike Secret Seven with a passion!).
Currently I'd say the Percy Jackson series (Rick Riordan), Attolia series (Megan Whalen Turner), and the classic Treasure Island (RL Stevenson).
I'd love to enter your giveaways please . I used to love Enid Blyton books when I was a kid , especially Mr Gallianos circus , The Magic Faraway Tree and the Wishing Chair. I bought the last two for my daughter and can't wait until she's old enough to appreciate them.

About books... hmmm... I love the book Leah's Pony, it's about a family having to sell their farm in the depression. It makes me cry... And I love the book "Time for Bed, Sleepyheads" - it was the one we always read at bedtime. And "What could be keeping Santa?"... my son memorized that one when he was 2 or 3 and could "read" the whole book. It was a hoot. Oh! And "The Secret Life of Jonathan Toomey" is the *best* Christmas story!! OK, lol, I'll be done now!
Blessings! Tricia

My children always loved the Roald Dahl books being read to them, so we have a fondness for Matilda, James and the Giant Peach, Esio Trot and of course not forgetting The . I still have a copy of these safely tucked away just in case i become a granny one day!
Aww I would love to be entered into your giveaway for either prize! The post book looks so cute! When I think back I had so many favorite books growing up and books that I read when I was teaching preschool it's hard to only pick one. But I can think of three that jumped right out. Elmo's There's a Monster at the end of this Book. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and The Sleeping House were all favorites of mine when I was younger.
Oooooh! I love the Autumn giveaway! You are soooo generous - thank you! I have just signed up to be a follower and look forward to future posts. Thanks again!
Congratulations on your followers milestone.
Please include me in the Autumn giveaway.
My favorite book as a child was "The Secret Garden" by Frances Hodgson Burnett. I look forward to sharing this story with my son. He will love Dicken.
Thanks for a great giveaway and for generating some wonderful book suggestions.
My favorite book to read aloud to the kids has been Goodnight Moon. It was the first book gifted to Max, my eldest, and it has been a favorite of each of the children through the years.
My own favorite children's books as a child had to do with magic, like Adventures of a Brownie. I spent a whole summer trying to kiss my elbow, like in the book, so I could fly. LOL.
Your pillow is beautiful! I got to stitch that one soon. Congrats of having over 200 followers! Your blog is lovely and I love reading it. Please enter me in both giveaways.
My favorite books,as a child, were the Little House series. My friends and I will even imagine we were the characters from the books and act out scenes from the books or the tv shows. I,also, like The Wizard of Oz and Heidi.
Fantastic giveaway Carol. I would be happy if you enter me in either one.
I've been rediscovering Madeline with my 6-year old. I liked the original story as a child but didn't realize there were additional stories until my daughter got the collection as a birthday gift. We re-read our favorite sections and look over the pictures at the back of the book which are of the real Madeline as a child and a young woman. The idea that Madeline was based on a real girl fascinates my daughter.
I so enjoy your finishes. The little pillow looks so firm! I would love to be entered into your Autumn drawing csogle@yahoo.com. As for my favorite children's book - the only one I remember being read is Little Black Sambo. My favorites that I read to my son were the Sweet Pickles series and of course Mother Goose.

Visit my blog and become one of my PIFs!
lovely giveaways - both look great to me
Lovely giveaway - could I enter the fall one? Thanks so much. Love how you finished the little pillow with the bow!
Children's books - must be in the air. My children are grown and no grandchildren in sight. Yet I bought several Graeme Base books last week just because! I have so many favorite children's books, partly because I associate them with my children, but hands down, the sweetest one was Love You Forever by Robert Munsch.
As we read every night different books, this one was included with the others just about each time for years! I could NEVER get through that book without tearing up, so the kids would take over for me whenever that happened. We all can recite the sweet little verse even now.
"I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
as long as I'm living
my baby you'll be."
Sweet memories, indeed. :)
I would so love to win either--what great giveaways! :)
I actually read through all the comments before me because I wanted to see what everyone liked! :D
I was surprised that no one mentioned my favorite as a 9/10 year-old; Elizabeth Goudge's "The Little White Horse". I also SO loved C.S. Lewis' Narnia books (Esp. the first), and Madeline L'Engle's "Wrinkle in Time". Brian Jacques' "Redwall" (and some of his others, too)...so many good books--what fun remembering them!
Thank you Carol, please enter me in your Autumn giveaway.I loved books and read so many as a child a trip to the library when we visited town was a must. One can recall wonderful books that were read and enjoyed.
However I think my favourite childhood books would have to be "The Flower Fairies" by Cecily Mary Barker these timeless books have been in constant use right through my life I learnt the names of flowers from them as I read and enjoyed her lovely illustrations.. My sister and I share a set long long ago and I was delighted when they were reprinted and I could share them with my daughter 30 years or so ago., and now I have shared them with my grand daughters.
And my copy now is "A Flower Fairies Treasury" which the family game me so that I still had a copy of my own.
Please include me in your giveaway in the fall.
I remember when my children went to bed and read a story for them to sleep, like the Three Little Pigs, Cinderella, etc.

The little pillow you made is beautiful Carol! You are having such wonderful giveaways! I love both Autumn and Halloween so please enter my name for either one!
I used to read to our daughters every night before bedtime until Jr. High age, and there were so many wonderful books. I wish I could remember every single title, but I would have to get their books and write them down! We had great fun reading Little Red Hen because we would each do a voice of one of the characters, Streganona was another good one, and we really enjoyed James and The Giant Peach. Of course all the old fairy tales are priceless.
I would love to be entered in your autumn giveaway. Finding this online world of stitchers has been such a great inspiration for my own stitching.
My mom always made sure we had lots of books in our house. My absolute favorite has to be Caps for Sale. I have such fond memories of my mom reading it to me, with special emphasis on the monkey sounds. I also loved anything Clifford or Curious George. I still have a love for children's books and made sure each new child in my life has their very own copy of Caps for Sale.

You're the best, Carol. Your giveaways and stitching are wonderful. Whoever wins will be so lucky to have something stitched by you! I'm going to pass this time because you have shared and have been so kind to me these past months. I treasure our friendship and hope to see you soon.
Our favorite books here were Who Said Red, Love you forever and Richard Scarry. Who could forget Huckle and Lowly?
Best of luck with the giveaway.
Congrats on your many followers (*HUGS*)
Your cross stitch is beautiful Carol. I'd love to enter your drawing. I love Prarie Schooler, their designs are fabulous. My favorite childern's story is Noah's Arch.
I am a follower of yours.

Fabulous giveaways. I love them both but would like to be entered in the Autumn one. My favorite season.
Now for my favorite book. No thinking aobut that one. It is The Crooked Little Colt by C W Anderson. I can still close my eyes and remember my Mom and Aunt taking me to the library when I was 5. My Aunt handed me this book because it had a horse on the cover. Yes, I was horse crazy even at that age. :) I took this book out of the library so many times it practically fell apart. :)

Hello - what a wonderful giveaway. I would be delighted to be entered for either giveaway. How generous thank you. I am glad to have found your stitching blog.
When my son was little (he's 16 now) he used to love a book called The Shark Who Bit Things He Shouldn't by Denis Bond. He loved this book and I used to skip pages thinking he wouldn't notice but he always did. Then when I found myself expecting another baby in my early 40's, (he's 3 now), I vowed to track this book down which I did and its wonderful to hear my 16 year old reading it to his little brother at bedtime - and does he skip pages - oh yes he does but of course the little one is to young to realise it yet.
Kind regards Michelle

Hi Care, As a child, my mother read verses of A.A.Milne i.e., the Christopher Robin admonishment to never go down to the end of town unless you go down with me.
You always liked the Dr. Seuss books such as "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas". The Little Engine That Could" was a favorite with the grandchildren and , of course, the Babar pop-up book. Love, Mom.
Thank you for this lovely giveaway. I am interested in either prize. My favorite book which still read with my grandniece is The Billy Goats Gruff. We enjoy making the sound effects of the goats going over the bridge and the phrase "sweet green grass." I follow you now.
Oooh, enter me in both! I love it all, but the PS is probably my favorite.
My favorite children's book is hard to choose. I am a bookworm to the enth degree! I loved The Giving Tree and Harry the Dirt Dog. I don't know why, but those were favorites of mine! Also, Grimm's Fairy Tales (the real ones) were thrilling to me. As a mom I loved Eric Carle, but if I had to read The Very Hungry Caterpillar or Brown Bear, Brown Bear one more time, I would have pulled my hair out!
Hi, I would love to be entered into both of your give-aways. I just joined your following, I also work in a public library, I am the Asst. Director/Catloguer at a small public library in Florida. I love to look at all of the children's books as I process them. I guess one of my favorites was Old Yeller, loved any animal book, when my son was younger, we read all of the Mercer Mayer books over and over and loved them.
I love your blog!
What lovely giveaways, Carol. I would like to be entered to the Autum theme, thanks.
One of my favorite children's book which i've read so many times to both my children when they were young was "Jip en Janneke", one of the famous Dutch children's book here.
What fantastic giveaways! I'd be happy to win either one. ;)
My favorite children's books... oh, gosh. There are so many. I suppose it's a tie between the Little House in the Prairie books and the Narnia series. I probably have a bigger soft spot for the Narnia series just because I read "The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe" and fell in love with it, and then I received a surprise package--a boxed set of all the Narnia books. I can still remember finding the package--it was from my parents--but I didn't figure that out till later. ;)
Hi Carol,
Your ornament is really pretty. Thanks for the link to the freebie. I'm going to print that one out. I'd love to be included in the autumn giveaway.
Did you know I was a children's librarian for several years? Loved it!! Loved helping with the children's programs and of course reading all the books. I don't have a favorite. I still have quite a few books from my childhood.
Hi, Carol! Oooh, I would love to be entered in the Autumn giveaway (not being much of a Halloween person), but Fall is my absolute, hands-down, favorite time of year!
Regarding children's books...I think one of my favorite series when I was growing up were the Amelia Bedelia books! Others were Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, any of the Dr. Seuss, etc. Another favorite was Rotten Ralph by Jack Gantos! When my children were little, I'll Love You Forever was a winner ~ and it STILL makes me cry! When they got older (like teens), we all laughed over Walter the Farting Dog ... I mean, really! Who thinks of things like that? My youngest DD was taking Latin and so I found that book in Latin and gave it to her for her Birthday. In Latin, of course, the title is Walter Canis Inflatus!
Anyway, have a great day!
my childhood memories of reading was Enid Blytons famous five and there was one book also by Enid, when i was very young around the age of 5, called the enchanted tree i used to dream every night about being one of the characters in the book. Another favourite of mine and my daughters has to be Roald Dahl, Chloe loves Charlie and the chocolate factory and matilda
congratulations of your followers total, and what a wonderful giveaway, please may I be entered into both, i would be one lucky girl to win either of them, thanks for the chance to win

I just found you and I am signing on to follow. As for books, I don't have any small children and my grand children are grown, so I can't say.

Hi Carol!
I would just love it if you could enter me in both giveaways!
One of my favorite books is one that I used to read to my son at bedtime. The title is " I Don't Want to Go to Bed". I can't remember who it is that wrote it. It brings back lots of good memories and that was when we used to talk a lot about how our day was and a time to get things off of his chest. To this day, not long before bedtime my son will come to me, ( he is 13 now) when he needs to get something off of his chest. As Martha would say, it's a good thing.
Please enter me for both, I just loved both and couln't decide :D
I grew up reading Fairy Tales among others and still remembered my first fairy tale book, Cinderella in hardcover and that was so precious to me. After over 40 yrs I still own that Cinderella which now belongs to my DD when she was 4, that was 10 yrs ago. I think it was the fairies and magic
and the princess thing that captured my imagination as a child.
Have a good weekend!
Hello Carol,
Thank you for your kind comments on my blog they are very much appreciated. I would love to enter both of your giveaways, please. My favourite book is not really a children's book but I read it for the first time when I was very young - A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. I have always felt an affinity with the Victorian era and I love Christmas, open fires and quaint shops and I would love to go back in time to that era. I still try to reread it every Christmas now.
kind regards,
Shirley
oh, how sweet!!! I used to read a book to my daughter about the gingerbread boy and the first time I read it to her I had lost my voice, so I was talking funny. Every time after that, she would say, mommy, use your funny voice for this one. She's 18 now :-( no gingerbread stories for her.
thanks for sharing and please include me also.

Hi Carol,
I would love to be included in your giveaway—either one would be a delight!
A little about myself and stitching: I enjoyed cross stitch for about 20 years but then it seemed like all the local shops closed and quilting was the rage. Plus, after a long day at work my aging eyes became a hindrance to fine detailed cross stitching.
I retired in June and in August decided that I would resurrect my interest in cross stitch. I turned to the Internet to see which designers were still in the business and find out about the new ones. I was amazed at all the stitching blogs! In fact, yours was one of the first I discovered! I felt a connection to you partly because we share librarianship as our career vocation.
You see, I retired after 34 years and the vast majority of those years were spent as an elementary library media specialist. So, I am well versed in children’s literature and can easily respond to your query about a favorite children’s book.
One of my all time favorites is Miss Rumphius by Barbara Cooney. I have read this to children countless times over the years and never grew tired of it. Miss Rumphius discovers that she needs to do 3 things to live a fulfilling life: live beside the sea; travel to faraway places; and do something to make the world more beautiful. This book strikes just the right chord and is a wonderful entry to discussion with children. I absolutely love the illustrations too!
I do not have a stitching blog. Maybe that will be in my future. I certainly have enjoyed many that I have discovered so far.
Thanks for writing such a wonderful blog and giving me the opportunity to share a little of my own story.

What a nice selection of gifts for your giveaway, I'm interested in either.
As for my favorite children's book it was the Briar Rabbit. Loved it and the way it was read to me with Mom emphasing the different characters with a different voice was enchanting. Thanks for the memory.
Jane

Oops....forgot to add my favourite children's book....for myself it would be "Anne of Green Gables"..I got my first Anne book when I was 8 from my grandmother and read and re-read that book! (Still have that very same book). If you go to my Blog...hence the name of it...
For my children it was reading the Bernstein Bears books.....they were so enjoyable!!
Take care
Marion
Catol I would be honoured to win either one of your giveaways, not because of the things that come with it but to have one of your finishes. :)
My have favorite series actually. Anne of Green Gables, and Little house on the Prairie. I'm a big city girl longing for a small town life I guess. But it's not just that it was the story and background of the authors that drew me to the books as well. It was as if I was looking into their lives somehow.
hmmmm maybe I'm just nosey. LOL
Oh My! I was so late on my blog reading! I almost missed your giveaway (daaaaahhh to me!!!)
Please count me! To both! :D
*fingers crossed*
My favorite book was a collection of 365 stories, one of those big books where each chapter is a different story, you know?
It was about fairies and gnomes, my godmother used to read me as a bedtime story.. even felt like going to sleep sooner just to hear one more piece.
Sadly I don't know the name =/ It was her book and unfortunately she passed away..
But I have these memories, it makes me smile and it will stay forever with me :)
I knew right away which books I would talk about. I grew up in a small town in Minnesota called Le Sueur and we boast 2 things: we're the home of the Jolly Green Giant AND the Mayo brothers home where they began their medical practice. This little house became our town library and it was my favorite place in the world. That's where I met Betsy and later her friends Tacy and Tibb--wonderful little girls who became my friends because of the beautiful writing of Maud Hart Lovelace. I can fell the wood floor in the back corner of the library where I would sit for hours with book clutched closely, reading intently, the world shut out. I was so lucky! What a great chance to live in that memory for a moment again, thank you.
AND I'd loved to be entered in your Autumn draw, thanks for the opprotunity.
wow! wow!

Please enter me in both giveaways.
When my children were small I loved reading the Little Bear books to them. His mama was so patient and loving and I can still hear her saying...I love you Little Bear.
Toad and Frog come in 2nd. :o)
Congratulations to you Carol for having such a turnout for your give away. Autumnal Stitching are some of my favorite pieces so that would be my choice. What a wonderful way to celebrate the season.
As far as a childrens book, now I have to think really hard on this one, I guess I would pick Anne of Green Gables, simply because of her spunk.
I would love to enter your giveaway. Fall is my favorite time of the year. As for my favorite children's book, I would have to say Pat the Bunny. My daughter loved that book when she was little. Thanks again for the opportunity...Stephanie
Well, instead of "checking in" weekly, I have now become an official follower, so please include me in the autumn drawing. It's a lovely giveaway, so thanks for the chance!
Oops! I forgot to mention the book. I think the one my daughter enjoyed my reading the most (though it's hard to say for sure because we spent many hours with our noses in books!) would be Are You My Mother? She loved all the odd animals and objects that couldn't possibly be a match before the real mommy appeared.
